New Librarians' Academy

New Librarian's Academy is an integral part of professioanl learning and mentorship for those new to being a BCPS Library Media Specialist. Resources and information to help prepare and support new LMSs in the five roles of a LMS. 

Important Dates

• August 21 & 22, 2019- New Teacher Orientation
• August 28, 2019- Professional Study Day
• 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. @ Dundalk High School
• December 2, 2019- Deadline for Mentor/Mentee paperwork to be submitted and received by Tisome Archer.

Documentation and Guidelines

A. Mentor-Mentee Meetings 

Mentor-Mentee meetings are an integral part of New Librarians' Academy. Please refer to the Guidelines for Mentor-Mentee Meetings for information, documentation forms, and deadlines.

• Mentor and mentees should arrange to visit each other's school libraries (1/2 day each) to observe instruction and procedures.
• These observation visits during the school day are not to be included on the Title II log for meeting time spent outside the duty day for stipend.
• LMS visiting the mentor/mentee to observe during the school day should code the absence as Other Board Business.
