World Cafe Model

World Café

based on The World Café Community Foundation

  • What is the World Café?
    • The Café is used to create a "living network of collaborative dialogues around questions that matter in service to real work.
    • It provides opportunities to synthesize the ideas of a diverse group in order to develop a collective intelligence.
    • It helps to provide opportunities to self-reflect and shift perspectives from "my way" to "our way".
  • How does the Café work?
    • Start the rotations at your assigned question table.
    • Each table will have a host to help facilitate the conversation.
    • During each round, participants should write, doodle, and draw key ideas on their "tablecloths" based on the assigned questions. Participants will communicate their ideas with the group through ongoing discussion.
    • After round one, the host will remain at the table while the other participants will scatter among the remaining tables.
    • The host will summarize the main ideas discussed in round one with the new group.
    • Each Participant will continue the conversation by commenting on or adding to the ideas shared in each round.
    • This will repeat three times.
