World Café
-
The World Café is a model used to create a "living network of collaborative dialogues around questions that matter in service to real work."
-
It provides opportunities to synthesize the ideas of a diverse group in order to develop a collective intelligence, and to self-reflect and shift perspectives from "my way" to "our way".
How the World Café Model works.
Café Reservations: You and your "dining" partners are at your starting table and will rotate together (clockwise). Take your space transformation Action Plan and Supporting/Monitoring SPP documents with you.
Menu: Use menu prompts to reflect on how you have applied previous professional learning to your own practice this year. Dialogue to share successful strategies and brainstorm solutions to challenges. Hosts will moderate discussion.
Table 1: Collection Maintenance & Marketing Hosts: Amanda Lanza & Alex Wolf
World Cafe 1 Collection Maintenance.docx
-
How have you engaged in Continuous Review, Evaluation and Weeding (CREW) to maintain the quality of your collection?
-
How have you marketed books & eBooks to promote their use by students and teachers?
-
How do you use circulation data for strategic marketing, weeding and selection?
Table 2: Learner Centered Environment Hosts: Chimère Neal & Justin Hennaut
-
How have you used your space transformation Action Plan to create a more learner-centered environment?
-
How will these changes transform your instruction and impact student learning?
-
How will the Library be the "learning hub" of the school when all students have devices?
Table 3: Building Instructional Partnerships & Supporting SPP Hosts: Fran Glick & Valerie Schaffer
-
How have you engaged in outreach to collaborate with more teachers and increase your time spent teaching students?
-
How do you articulate your role/services to teachers? What's your "elevator speech"?
-
How have you supported your School Progress Plan?
Table 4: Virtual Presence & Advocacy Hosts: Kelly Ray & Jen Weaver
-
How have you used a Virtual Learning Commons as a platform for learning, curation & communication, to extend your library program and its resources beyond the physical space and school day?
-
How have you used advocacy strategies & tools to provide evidence of your program's impact for students to all stakeholders? (VLC, e-Newsletters, social media, etc.)
You will have opportunities for continued professional learning and growth for these responsibilities, at S.T.A.T. School Library Summer Institute, PSD, 2017-18 quarterly PD sessions and after-school Workshops.
