How did you approach the work?

In the Evidence Based Practice Model,  I focused on my practice in the context of systematic means of a systematic building,assessing, and revising the library program to present the School Library Media Program at Deer Park Elementary as adding value to the school learning community. Essentially if I could modify the program to meet the needs of the learning community at Deer Park Elementary then there would be a positive impact on student learning, efficacy and achievement.  I sought to use multiple sources of data to facilitate triangulation which synthesizes data from multiple data points. .Thus, my approach was deliberate and intentional to drive action,  improve my professional practice, and to make my contributions to student learning clear through the data from multiple data sources.

My goal throughout the Evidence Based Practice process was to support the SPP initiatives through focusing on providing engaging learning opportunities to improve student motivation and engagement and ultimately their learning and motivation.

How did an evidence-based perspective affect your practice?

Describing the positive impact that the School Library Media Program has on a school community required me to shift from advocacy to evidenced based outcomes. Evidence Based Practice model incorporates gathering evidence for practice in which actual practice is based upon empirical research; evidence in practice, which encompasses my daily professional practice; and evidence of practice, which involves the measurement and evaluation of practice in terms of outcomes.  I asked myself the question, "Am I affecting positive change in the school learning community" and "How can I change my practice, dispositions and behaviors to maximize a positive impact in the school learning community?"  Further, Evidence Based Practice is primarily a function of the School Library Media Specialist as a program administrative but how I chose to approach it from the prospective that Evidence Based Practice I could gather evidence to optimize my effectiveness in the other roles of teacher instructional partner, and information specialist.
