Reflection - Write a brief written reflection below each question; you can elaborate when you share with colleagues at the Showcase.
How did you approach the work? I approached my work by reading and analyzing the data from each school's improvement plan. I identified Lyons Mills with looking to increase vocabulary and reading scores for students in all grade levels. I targeted the 2nd grade population in this school. At Stoneleigh, I identified anchor charts and interactive bulletin boards as the focus and worked with 4th graders at Stoneleigh.
How did an evidence-based perspective affect your practice? I think the evidence I used allowed me to target needed deficiencies. I was able to use my knowledge of the student population as well as teacher led instruction to supplement was in place in the individual schools.
How will you engage in EBP going forward? I loved seeing the post and pretested used by my colleagues. I plan to use more teacher surveys and student pretests in building my own library library at a new school. Working under various librarians has been a wonderful learning experience but I am ready to use my knowledge and people skills to grow a program based on data, literature, experience, and technology. I feel that a combination approach to library better integrates all the resources that are at our fingertips.
