Open Education Resources Collaboration & Curation SHOWCASE

Essential Question:

How can library media specialists and teachers leverage openly licensed content to support student learning and engagement?

Outcomes:

  • Participants will learn how to evaluate, select, and curate Open Education Resources (OER).​
  • Participants will curate selected Open Education Resources using Destiny Collections. 

Goal for OER Showcase:

  • Participants will reflect on the OER collaboration and curation experience and review colleagues' Collections
    in order to plan next steps for revising, using, and sharing OER Collections with school and BCPS stakeholders.

1. Reflection

  • Individual:  What was your biggest "AHA!" or take-away from the OER collaboration & curation experience?  Type a few words or short phrase in the Answer Garden.

  • Small Group & Whole Group: 
    • Reflect silently and make notes on your placement section in response to the reflection questions. 

    • Discuss with your small group.

    • Volunteers from each small group share out. 

Reflection Questions:

  1. How did the rubric change your approach to selecting appropriate resources for your students?
    Provide a specific example from your experience.
     

  2. Has this experience changed your approach to planning instruction outside of this activity?  Explain.

  3. How did you and your partner collaborate? What did the workflow look like?

  4. What challenges did you encounter while curating OER?

  • With your partner, use feedback and ideas from the Sharing activity to create an Action Plan detailing next steps for using and sharing your OER Destiny Collection with members of your school community and other BCPS stakeholders.

  • Complete this brief Survey to share your plans with Library Media Programs. 

 

 4. OER Revisions

          • School teams make revisions based on feedback and ideas from shared Collections.

          • Review additional teams' OER Collections as time permits.
