When marketing eBooks and Audiobooks in your collection, be creative in your approach. There are many ways to get your students and the classroom teachers excited about using the eBooks!

Here are some ideas:

  • Booktalks: this method works for print texts, and works the same way for eBooks. Access one on Follett Shelf and give students a 1-2 minute book talk about the book (make sure you have read it first- students love to ask questions!)
  • eBook Shelf Markers: create a shelf marker or place holder with the cover of the eBook or Follett Digital Audiobook and place it in the stacks where it would normally be located if it were a print text. On the back add a short summary or the blurb from the book jacket. Laminate it for longevity.
  • "Also Available as an eBook" templates: (From Overdrive) editable PDF templates to stick on books or place on shelves to show that a book has an eBook alternative.
  • Browsing Book Jacket: (based on the work of Peggy Sharp and Shelly Riskin): This "jacket" uses a manila folder to display information about a book, eBook or audiobook. This would be a great addition to a makerspace for students to create and interesting book display based on books that they have read. Add the QR code for the eBooks for students to easily scan and check out the book.
