Agenda:
At the ISTE conference this summer, I saw this presentation, which was created by a teacher-librarian named Richard Snyder from Washington state. I loved the presentation for several reasons. For one, unlike many of the presentations at the ISTE conference, this presentation wasn't geared toward schools with Apple products, or toward schools who use Google tools that are students can't make use of. Instead the presentation was a mix of things I knew about, things I'd forgotten about, and things that were completely new. All the tools were usable by me as the librarian, and many were usable by students as well. At the end of the presentation, I really felt that after having a minute or two of exposure to these tools, there were a handful of tools I really wanted to try or reacquaint myself with. I told Richard that I was excited to share a few of these tools with staff back home. He said I could feel free to use the whole presentation, so I took him up on it.
I'm by no means an expert on most of these tools, but I've spent some time checking out all of them. I'll give my thoughts on what makes each one a hit or a miss, and I'd love for you to do the same. We'll move quick because some of my favorites are toward the end. Hopefully, you'll end up with a handful of tools you'll go out and try as well.
